The United States incarcerates more of its citizens than any other nation in the world. Currently over 2.3 million U.S. citizens are behind bars. One in three African American men are currently involved in the criminal justice system: incarcerated, on probation, parole, or awaiting trial.
From the Inside Out is a documentary and website working to bring to light the incredible injustices that compose our justice system. The film will feature formerly incarcerated people who are working to reform the system in various ways: education, legislation, sentencing reform, improving conditions for those incarcerated, transition programs to assist former inmates in their reintegration process, and re-enfranchisement efforts. We will also be highlighting both in the film and on this website other organizations working hard to reform our broken system, to give audience members places to put their energy.
